What this policy covers

ArbLens ("we", "us") uses cookies and browser storage technologies on arblens.io. This policy explains what we store, why, and how you can control it.

What is a cookie?

A cookie is a small text file placed on your device by a website. "Browser storage" refers to similar mechanisms — localStorage and sessionStorage — that operate entirely within your browser and are never transmitted to our servers unless we explicitly send them as part of an API request.

What we use and why

We do not use advertising cookies or cross-site tracking cookies.

Essential vs optional

Storage marked strictly necessary (authentication tokens, workspace preferences, consent record) cannot be disabled without breaking the service. Without authentication storage you cannot sign in; without preference storage your settings reset on every visit.

Google Analytics is optional. It helps us understand which features are used and where the product breaks, but you can decline it without losing any functionality. To opt out of Google Analytics across all sites, install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

Third-party cookies

We load Google Analytics 4 (gtag.js from googletagmanager.com). It sets _ga and _ga_* cookies and receives product usage events only after you accept analytics above. Data is processed by Google LLC (US). See Google's Privacy Policy and Google Analytics data practices.

AWS Cognito (authentication) may set its own cookies as part of the OAuth flow; those are governed by the AWS Privacy Notice.

How to control or delete cookies

You can manage cookies through your browser settings:

Chrome — Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data
Firefox — Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
Safari — Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data
Edge — Settings → Cookies and site permissions

Clearing browser data will also reset your cookie consent preference, and the banner will reappear on your next visit. Clearing authentication storage will sign you out.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when we add new features that involve storage. The "Last updated" date at the top will always reflect the most recent revision. Continued use of ArbLens after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
